Digital Artist, Project Based

SF Bay Area

Job Description

About Us

XOXO is a research lab building the interface of intelligence for everyday life. We're a stealth team of hardcore engineers, designers, and researchers discovering solutions to novel problems impacting life outside work.

With a recent breakthrough in the platform, we're starting a unique collaboration with digital artists that will bring the interface of intelligence to life.

About the Role

We've built a new design language for the era of intelligence—a visual system with its own rules and specific set of principles. We're hiring digital artists to work within our proprietary design platform and bring this language to life.

You'll make icons, animations, images, artwork—whatever your expertise inspires—as long as it follows the rules of the system. You don't need to be technical. You just need to love making things and enjoy pushing creative boundaries to discover what's possible.

What You’ll Do

You'll work within our design system with a simplified set of controls. Project scope will be adapted to your area of expertise, but could include:

  • Icons and visual components

  • Shapes, patterns, and graphic elements

  • Images and illustrations

  • Animations and motion graphics

  • Digital artwork you feel inspired to create

Your feedback will help us evolve the platform as you learn it.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Portfolio demonstrating strong visual work—digital illustration, graphic design, pixel art, or any medium where your aesthetic voice is clear.

  • Ability to pick up unfamiliar tools quickly and figure things out through experimentation.

  • Strong sense of taste and a clear point of view in your work.

  • Thrives working within constraints and rule-based systems.

  • Available to meet and collaborate in San Francisco as needed.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with motion design or animation.
